German Castles
Neuschwanstein - Neuschwanstein
This mighty structure is the basis for
many fairy-tale dreams. King Ludwig II of Bavaria was obsessed
with its construction. The interior is rather ostentatious
and was built in a neo-Gothic style dating from the late 1800s.
The Minstrel Hall and Throne Room are considered
top be the most important rooms in the castle. King Ludwig
never saw the realization of this dream, dying in 1886 after
being declared "of unsound mind." He is often referred
to as "Mad King Ludwig."
