Spanish Castles
Fuensaldana - Valladolid Province
This medieval castle looks more like an
ancient Roman desert fort, as it red and yellow bricked walls
rise from the Spanish plains. An impressive keep with four
corner towers dominates this castle and a smaller torre de
homenaje set in the north wall.
Access to the castle was made through a
simple, detachable wooden drawbridge. Don Alfonso Perez de
Vivero, the treasurer of King John II, built this castle in
the 15th century.
